CRIME: Hoodlums Attack 23- year-old Girl

A 23-year-old lady, Miss Jessica Albah,
was almost raped by four hoodlums
yesterday in Abuja.
An eye witness described it as a sad
scene but added that there was nothing
he could do since the hoodlums were
many.
He said, “I would have helped her but I
couldn’t in order not to get myself
stabbed or killed as the hoodlums were
holding knives,” he said.
Another eyewitness, who identified
himself as Bolarinwa, told LEADERSHIP
that the victim, Jessica Albah, was
returning from work at about 8:45pm
when she was attacked by four boys,
brutally beaten and almost raped under
Berger Bridge.
He said the street was virtually deserted
at that time of the night.
“Her clothes were torn as she was
dragged on the floor like a piece of rag,
beaten seriously, but she managed to
escape, leaving her bag behind to save
herself,” he said.
According to him, about 20 miles away
was a police checkpoint, where she ran
to and reported the attack to the lone
policeman she met.
The policeman reportedly led her to the
scene where, fortunately for Albah, they
saw the hoodlums on that same spot,
searching her bag, but when sighted the
policeman they started running.
The police immediately shot one in the
leg, arrested others and took them to the
station.
At the time of filing this report, Albah
was receiving treatment at St Matthews
Hospital, Abuja.
